My new role as Professor of Organizational and Group Psychology at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences commenced on 1 September 2014. Since that date, I have been in charge of organizational psychology, organizational and group dynamics, consultancy and general principles of psychology at the university’s Faculty of Applied Social Sciences. The professorship also enables me to participate in research projects that allow me to analyse my extensive hands-on experience and the interests and issues that I have repeatedly encountered in practice. It’s good to keep discussing these things!
The first semester is now in full swing and I am enjoying my new role. There is a marvellously welcoming culture here at the University of Applied Sciences and within the Faculty – I have been greeted with openness and interest and was very thoughtfully introduced to everyone at the staff party at the beginning of the semester. As the new kid on the block, I am receiving a lot of support while I learn the ropes and I have been delighted by the enthusiasm and intelligence of the students who I have worked with so far. The same is true of the excellent atmosphere of dialogue and cooperation among my colleagues.
