On 1. July 2013 I was appointed deputy chairperson of the German Society for Organizational and Group Dynamics (DGGO). I’m delighted to have been elected and feel honoured by the trust people have shown in me. I’m now looking forward to working on the committee with my colleagues Beate Mews (chairperson) and Bernhard Kölber (treasurer), as well as Edwin Scholz and Stefanie Husi from the training committee. In my first year I intend to focus on organizational dynamics, a subject which the DGGO adopted as part of its name in 2008 and one which is continually expanding. An internal working group and members of the DGGO have been trying for well over a year to put the concept of “organizational dynamics” into more concrete terms by asking: What is organizational dynamics? What purpose might it serve and what action would be required? What kind of approach to and understanding of organizations might it involve? What needs to be done in terms of training in this area?
